Things to Do in Park City This Summer: Your 2026 Guide to Special Events, Opera, Music, and More
There’s no shortage of things to do in Park City in the summer. If anything, the challenge is fitting it all in. That’s because Park City is many things at once: a mountain escape, a foodie’s paradise, a trailhead, and a destination for art, music, and boutique shopping.
Here are the best things to do in Park City this summer, ranging from events worth planning ahead for to spur-of-the-moment activities. Regardless of what you choose, summer in town has a way of turning ordinary evenings into something you’ll talk about all year long.
Start the Season with Classical Music in Unexpected Places
Park City Opera offers an approach that stands apart from any other traditional concert or opera experiences in Utah. Rather than performing in traditional concert halls, productions and recitals take place in intimate and community-centered spaces: galleries, greenhouses, restaurants, and open-air patios. Many events are free, offering a low-commitment way to experience live opera, even if you’re not a seasoned classical music lover (yet!).
The highlights of Park City Opera’s 2026 Season include:
Opera Around the World Series — Every Monday Evening, July 13 through August 24 at City Park Bandstand
Set against a stunning mountain backdrop, discover opera from the far reaches of the world. Each week, travel on a musical journey to a new region like Peru, Italy, Austria and more and experience nationally-acclaimed singers in a casual setting. Bring a picnic, gather loved ones (dogs included) and enjoy music in an open-air, relaxed community setting. Opera Around the World is a free series presented in partnership with Mountain Town Music.
The Tender Land: July 18 & 19 at 5 PM — Temple Har Shalom
Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land is often considered one of the greatest treasures amongst American operas, and is a perfect way to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Set in the American west, it follows Laurie, a young woman on the cusp of adulthood, weighing whether to stay or leave home. Its folk-influenced score and intimate storytelling make it an easy entry point for first-time audiences.
Performances include complimentary light bites, a cash bar, and an indoor-outdoor setting. The production runs approximately two hours with a 15-minute intermission and is accompanied by a live chamber orchestra.
Roméo et Juliette: August 21 at 7 PM & August 23 at 3 PM
Eccles Center
Charles Gounod’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy is widely regarded as an example of French Romantic opera at its finest. Roméo et Juliette is known for its sweeping melodies and technically demanding vocal writing. Performed in French with English supertitles, this full production features an orchestra of more than forty players, an international cast of singers, and even ballet dancers!
Explore Culture Up and Down Main Street
Savor the Summit: Park City’s Outdoor Dining Tradition
Savor the Summit typically takes place in late June, when Historic Main Street closes to traffic and transforms into a long, communal dining table. Participating restaurants extend onto the street for an evening of multi-course meals, drinks, and live music.
Reservations are made directly through restaurants, and the event tends to sell out each year, so book ahead here.
Shop, Stroll, and Discover: Park Silly Sunday Market
Park Silly Sunday Market runs most Sundays from June through September, taking over lower Main Street with local vendors, food stands, live music, and rotating community programming.
Free and family-friendly, it has been a fixture of Park City summers since 2006. Dates and programming vary slightly year to year, so it’s worth checking the official schedule here before visiting.
A Weekend Festival for Art Lovers: Kimball Arts Festival on August 7-9
The Kimball Arts Festival brings hundreds of artists to Park City each August, spanning mediums from ceramics and painting to photography and sculpture. One of the leading outdoor art festivals in the country, the weekend draws collectors and visitors from across the region.
Admission details and programming are updated annually, so checking ahead is recommended.
Live Music All Summer Long
Mountain Town Music programs free concerts throughout the summer at venues including Newpark Amphitheater and locations along Main Street. Performances range from touring acts to local artists, typically held on weekends and early evenings.
Fourth of July on Main Street
Independence Day in Park City centers around Historic Main Street, beginning with a morning 5K and a parade at 11 AM. City Park hosts afternoon festivities with live music, food vendors, and family activities.
In recent years, the evening has typically concluded with a drone show over Park City Mountain!
Get Outside: Summer Hiking, Biking, and More
Park City sits at roughly 7,000 feet in elevation, with over 400 miles of trails for hiking and biking. Wildflower season typically peaks from late June into July, and higher-elevation trails stay relatively cool through the summer months. The options are endless, but here are a few select recommendations:
Bloods Lake Trail
A 2.8-mile round trip hike at around 9,000 feet elevation, ending at an alpine lake. The trail is moderately challenging, with about 500 feet of elevation gain. Parking is limited and fills quickly on weekends.
Armstrong Trail
A nearly four-mile singletrack route known for its gradual climb and wildflower views. Open to hikers, dogs, and uphill-only bike traffic, it’s one of the more accessible trails close to town.
Beyond hiking, Park City offers mountain biking, golf, fly fishing, paddleboarding on nearby reservoirs, and rafting on the Weber and Provo rivers.
Plan Your Summer Around Music
Park City Opera focuses on bringing opera into spaces that feel connected to everyday life in Park City. Whether attending a full production or a smaller pop-up performance, the emphasis is on accessibility and proximity, both to the artists and the setting.
