The Story
In the fantastical land of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, an enchanted flute can tame wild beasts, a bird-catcher can become a hero, and those with pure hearts can triumph over evil.
When Prince Tamino is rescued from a serpent by three mysterious ladies, the Queen of the Night charges him with freeing her daughter, Pamina, from her captor, Sarastro. Armed with a magic flute and joined by his bird-catcher friend Papageno, Tamino soon discovers that his journey to love will test his courage and virtue.
Propelled by Mozart's sparkling score (some of the most recognizable in the operatic repertory), The Magic Flute reminds us that growing up means learning to be brave, that a sense of wonder is worth holding on to, and that music itself has the power to bring us together.
The Music
Our production features a full orchestra and is performed in German with English supertitles. You may already know more of the score than you think: The Queen of the Night's dazzling aria has echoed through film and pop culture for generations, Papageno's cheerful songs are among the most beloved in opera, and the
charming "Pa-pa-pa" duet will have you smiling long after the curtain falls.
